I loved it! May 8, 2008 This was an excellent purchase! It brings out a very different side of the music of Hans Zimmer. Very entertaining for sure and a pleasure to listen to. Don't expect his usual epic score though, because it really isn't that, but that is just the point, even though it isn't his usual - it still has his usual amazing skill in it! Great!

This is an incredible CD. A must have for any Hans Zimmer or soundtrack fan. Please listen to the sampler of all 18 tracks. Don't let the native sounds turn you off. They only last an average of 30 seconds per track. The average track is only about three minutes long. Only track 1 is all chanting. What a shame that the last review was in September, 2002. I have had the CD for about one month and play it all the time and still think it is on a par with Zimmer's The Thin Red Line and Batman Begins sountracks. If you still are skeptical go back and give the sampler one more try for tracks 2,3,7,8,10,11,16,17,18,and 18. Tracks 3 and 17 rate up there with the masterpiece Journey to the Line on The Thin Red Line. Buy this CD you will not be disappointed.
Very Uplifting and Inspirational September 3, 2005 I find this soundtrack to be rich and full of inspiring sounds. I am an artist and play it constantly and it never fails to bring good feelings and creativity. I highly recommend it.
Beautiful music to carry you to other worlds September 26, 2002 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This music is beautiful and inspiring. I once created a dance to one of the main themes of this score. This music is the soundtrack to a TV series that aired on PBS in the early 1990s. The series was about the differences between modern lifestyles and "primitive" lifestyles of the tribal peoples from throughout the world, and how an exchange between the two might be mutually beneficial. So, naturally, the composer incorporates the sounds and effects of the different tribal peoples into this soundtrack, and some songs even include tribal chants and songs, which are very beautiful. This music has a timeless and encompassing feel to it. Listening to it, it is possible to forget your time and place and slide away into some pocket of your mind that is not ruled by clocks or dates on the calendar.
A excellent choice July 6, 2001 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
One of Zimmer's great scores. I've never seen the documentary, but picked up the CD because of Zimmer did the music, and it will blow you away. The second cut on the CD (Stones For A Thousand Years) is just incredible. Get this CD, you won't be disappointed!
